Background about this stamp issue
The stamp sales in terms of the Northeast currency were discontinued 1 May 1951. Generally the Northeast post offices have to exchange their stock inventories for unified postage stamp issues before 30 May 1951. On 1 July 1951 the Northeast stamps were no longer valid to use as postage stamps. In Northeast China the postage rates from 1 April to end of June 1951 were (Northeast Currency): 2.500 元 for local and military letter, 5.000 元 for domestic letter, 12.500 元 for registered letter, 20.000 元 for double registered letter, 15.000 元 for express letter. For the transition period (three months up to end of June 1951) of the introduction of the new unified currency the postage rates were adjusted to (Renminbi): 260 元 for local and military letter, 525 元 for domestic letter, 1.350 元 for registered letter, 2.105 元 for double registered letter, 1.575 元 for express letter. The exchange rate between Northeast Currency (東北幣) and Renminbi (人民幣) was 9.5 : 1. In order to meet the odd amounts of the new postage rates in Northeast China the following sets were released and were only useful for a postage rate supplement of three months in Northeast China even they were available at post offices through the whole China.

– Postally used stamps and especially covers are rare and expensive. Please beware of many forgeries.
